This storage chest was collected by George T. Emmons from Tsantikihin of the Aak'w Kwaan, Tlingit, Juneau, Alaska. Emmons' notes indicate that it was obtained by the Tlingit in trade from the Tsimshian or Haida. It was exhibited in the Alaska Building at the A-Y-P. The massive formline style of carving dates it to the early 1800s or earlier.
