Search through the Arts & Cultures Collections database of cultural heritage objects.

Search Tips:

Object Name: The drop-down menu contains a limited number of options that do not reflect the full scope of collection. Use the "Enter your own term" field at the bottom of the drop-down if you do not see what you are looking for.

Culture of Origin: Search the drop-down menu using the search bar at the top, but not every searchable term is listed. If you do not see what you are looking for in the drop-down, try using the "Enter your own term" field at the bottom. You may also search on geographic locations here but not all of them will yield results. You may see multiple names for the Tribe or community you are looking for, including outdated or offensive names that we are working to update, searching on either name should yield the same results. If you would like assistance finding all the belongings attributed to your community, please contact a collections manager.

Materials: Not every belonging or artwork will have the materials listed, especially older catalog records.

Techniques: Examples of techniques you might see listed: beadwork, plain weave, dyed, sewn, carved. Not every belonging or artwork will have techniques documented, especially older catalog records.

Motif: This field will include what is pictured on a belonging or artwork (for example: dog, flower, thunderbird) but this may also include specific design motifs if they have been documented. Not every belonging or artwork will have motifs listed.

Source: This will be the donor, collector, or whom the artwork was purchased from.

Location: Use this field to search by geographic location which may include where the belonging or artwork was collected or originated. For the most comprehensive results search in both the Location and Culture of Origin fields.
