Atayal shell-beaded skirt, 200 years old. The shell-beaded skirt is thick and heavy, about 1.25 kg. it is estimated that 12,000 shell-beads are sewn on the skirt. Among the Atayal tribe, shell-beaded skirts were worn by headhunters on ceremonial occasions in honor of their bravery.
