This full-sized 15' long tatala canoe dates to the early 20th century. It was made by the Tao people on Lanyu Island, Taiwan. The tatala is essential for every family and used to go catch flying fish. The canoes are often decorated with magamaog, a legendary being who taught the Tao the art of boat-building and agriculture.
