Coast Salish racing canoes are carved from a single Western Red Cedar log, models and full-sized alike. Look at the bow and stern. These end parts are carved separately then added to canoes. The Coast Salish racing canoe's sleek design emerged in the early 20th Century. Canoe racing continues today.
