This pole was carved aboard the SS Universe Explorer, in celebration of World Explorer Cruises' twenty-five-year anniversary.

Pole symbols, top to bottom:
Canoe-the canoe represents the SS Universe Explorer; the painted human faces and butterfly represent visitors to the Northwest Coast
Animal figures-these figures are common clan crests and represent all the Native people of the Northwest Coast:
Whale (top left)
Eagle (top right)
Wolf (lower left)
Raven (lower right, sitting atop a bentwood box)
Water-abstract water designs run down the pole from top to bottom
