Arts & Cultures Collections Database

The Arts & Cultures department at the Burke Museum cares for more than 57,000 cultural belongings from across the Americas, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific Islands. You can access these creations virtually through our online search. Use the ‘Explore the Catalog’ feature to browse specific collections such as the Ottenberg silkscreen print collection.

Please be aware that images and catalog records for collections that may fall under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA, Public Law 101-601, 25 U.S.C. Sect. 3001 et.seq.) or have been restricted by appropriate community representatives are not publicly searchable. If you have questions or are interested in learning more about repatriation at the Burke, please visit Repatriation at the Burke Museum or reach out to repatriation@uw.edu.

The Arts & Cultures online collections database may contain cultural belongings that are not appropriate to share with the public that have yet to be properly identified. Some records may also include errors or offensive and outdated language. These records do not reflect the Burke Museum’s current viewpoint but rather past collecting and cataloging practices that are no longer aligned with our values. We continually update our records and are committed to addressing problematic language and developing culturally appropriate descriptions. We welcome feedback and encourage members of descendant communities, scholars, and others to contact us. Please contact the relevant collections manager if you have questions, concerns, or would like to request additional information or access.
