Exhibit Label"I was impressed with the innovation I saw in some of the old pieces at the Burke. These baby booties (#1-1904) were traditionally woven but are contemporary in style. I was reminded of the gambling phrase 'the baby needs new shoes." So I began examining my own life for ways the old combines with the new.
I realized that the copper shields, or tinaa, once held money-like value in the past and today that value is held by dollar bills, so a light came on to put them together into an actual more full-sized copper piece - called 'Big Money." Alison Bremner
