As the days continue to be dark and cold, come light up the rainbow at this month’s STEAM Spotlight: Queers in STEAM. Join the Burke Museum in celebrating and uplifting LGBTQIA2S+ identities through multiple floors of visitor engagement. This event is about visibility, representation, and showcasing the work and interests of queer knowledge holders working in STEAM and STEAM-supporting jobs at the Burke. Visitors of all ages are invited to come learn, connect, and be in community!

– Chat with LGBTQIA2S+ identifying staff, volunteers, and students of the Burke about the work they do here at the museum in the Floor 2 Learning Lab.

– Visit the Lower Lobby and discover community organizations that help support new and established queer scientists in every step of their journeys.

– Engage with the Floor 1 Northwest Native Art Gallery Artist Studio.

– Take a photo at our special STEAM Spotlight photobooth to shout your queer identity loud and proud!

– Get crafty in our Drag Craft Corner by everyone’s favorite mastodon in the Lower Lobby.

– Be the first to experience the new and exciting cornerstone of the STEAM Spotlight series: Archaeology & Paleontology Open Doors! This is a special opportunity to engage with our staff and collections in archaeology and paleontology on Floor 3.
