Michiko will be weaving a jacket out of old sheets, drawing inspiration from saki-ori (Japanese), Swedish, and American rag weaving traditions.

Weaving using rags and other worn out fabrics is a widespread art to make use of otherwise discarded materials.

About the Artist

Michiko Wild (they/them) is a multidisciplinary artist and teacher working in any art medium they can get their hands on and make work in.

They draw from experiences as mixed race, Japanese American, queertrans, and disabled, and hope to learn new ways of making every day.
