Tsimshian weavers Jackie Jainga-Hyllseth, Janice Jainga-Lonergan, and Becca Zellerhoff are creating a family clan robe for the Tsimshian Killerwhale Clan.

This robe is created in memory of their Aunt/Grandmother, Barbara Jainga and all their Tsimshian ancestors: Mathilda Lawson, Ella Lawson Jainga, Joseph V Jainga, Jr, & Theresa (Kay) Jainga Diama.

Under the guidance of Jackie Jainga Hyllseth, Rebecca Zellerhoff and Janice Jainga-Lonergan have selected the methods of Chilkat and Raven's Tail designs and weaving techniques for this robe. They will demonstrate this unique process for the creation of this family clan robe which is traditional Tsimshian clan protocol. Mixing traditional and contemporary weaving methods together to create a family Gishbudwada (Killerwhale clan) robe made by the weavers of the Lakgibuu (wolf clan). These Tsimshian weavers are reclaiming, restoring, and re-establishing Tsimshian clan protocol that had been taken away from their ancestors.
