Performance by WestShore Canoe Family
Established in 2006, the WestShore Canoe Family has played an instrumental role in strengthening, preserving, and sharing Coast Salish culture through traditional song and dance. The family organized and hosted the first Coastal Jam on the Lummi Reservation, creating a space for communities to come together in celebration, cultural sharing, and connection. Over the years, the WestShore Canoe Family has shared songs and dances with numerous Tribes, First Nations, bands, and villages, helping to carry forward cultural teachings and traditions. Their contributions include powerful prayer songs honoring Every Child Matters and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW), along with many other songs that bring healing, comfort, unity, and good feelings to the communities they visit.
Through their dedication to song, dance, and community, the WestShore Canoe Family continues to strengthen cultural connections and honor the generations who came before us and those yet to come.
