Join us at the Burke to celebrate the publication of artist David A. Boxley and writer Steve Quinn’s forthcoming book, Tsimshian Eagle: A Culture Bearer's Journey. The book launch event will feature a performance by Boxley’s dance group Git Hoan, an opportunity to purchase a signed copy of the book, as well as time to experience the Culture is Living and Northwest Native Art galleries.

This limited capacity event might sell out quickly.

About the Authors

David Boxley is a Tsimshian carver from Metlakatla, Alaska. David’s inspiration comes from his ancestors of the Tsimshian Tribe from Northern British Columbia and Southeast Alaska and he has dedicated more than 40 years of his life to the revitalization and rebirth of Tsimshian arts and culture. David not only wants to be the best artist he can be, but he wants to inspire and influence the continuation of this beautiful art form and cultural practices.

Steve Quinn is a Seattle-based writer whose work for twelve years placed him in Alaska, where he first met David Boxley and members of his dance group, Git Hoan, who travelled from Seattle to perform in Juneau. He has won several magazine writing awards featuring Alaskan Native culture.
