Amber Stephens is a Puyallup Tribal artist based in Tacoma, Washington. Her work reflects an ongoing journey of reconnecting with her tribe’s histories, language, and traditions.

Stephens works with digital and traditional mediums. She has been practicing Coast Salish art since 2012 and in 2020 she started beading, which led to weaving, and eventually carving. Her background as a game designer informs her thoughts on space, interaction, and storytelling, often including viewers in the experience of her work.

Whether creating small works or large public installations, Amber’s goal is to continue learning and carry that knowledge forward for future generations. Through art, she encourages a deeper appreciation for the living traditions of Coast Salish culture.
