John Putnam, Collector, Colleague and Friend

(1918-2001)

Collector, scholar, supporter, photographer, and enduring friend, John Putnam was an inspiration to those who worked with him. For nearly twenty years, he had a second career at the Burke Museum, and we benefited greatly from his generosity. Putnam started working at the Burke as a volunteer photographer and became a Curatorial Associate, major donor, and beloved colleague.
