Example of Tsimshian basketry Example of Tsimshian basketry

The Coast Tsimshian people live in Northern British Columbia and Southeastern Alaska. Their baskets are usually made of twined red cedar bark with bear grass false embroidery. Butterflies and flowers were popular motifs on Tsimshian baskets made for sale in the early 1900s.
