What to expect during your visit

Are masks required?

We continue to welcome and recommend mask wearing for the protection of the most vulnerable members of our community.

Timed-entry tickets

Pre-purchased, online tickets are encouraged. A limited number of walk-up tickets are available on a first come, first-served basis as space allows. Book your ticket in advance to visit at your ideal time and skip the line on busy days like weekends and Free First Thursdays! You can arrive at any time during the hour of your reserved time slot.

Physical distancing 

We encourage you to maintain physical distancing when possible.

Cleaning protocols

Additional cleaning is in place throughout the day with an emphasis on high-traffic areas like restrooms, railings, door handles, and elevators.

Hand sanitizer

Hand sanitizer is available at the admission desk, lower lobby, and other areas throughout the building.

Food & drink

Food and drink—including water bottles—are not permitted in the galleries. Outside food is welcome inside the museum in the Cascade Room or outside on the lovely terraced steps of the Burke Yard.

Off the Rez Café

The café is open with eat-in and to-go options. Limited seating is available inside and on the outdoor patio. Masks are encouraged, but no longer required inside the café.

Café hours are Tuesday–Sunday, 10 AM – 5 PM. 

Parking

Paid parking is available through the University of Washington, with an option for touchless payment by phone. Learn more.

Youth Programs

Youth Programs at the Burke are operated in compliance with UW's Operational Guidance for UW Youth Programs and the Washington State Department of Health Requirements and Guidance to Mitigate COVID-19 Transmission in K-12 Schools, Child Care, Early Learning, Youth Development and Day Camps.

While not required, masks are welcome and encouraged inside the Burke and Off the Rez Café.

Following changes to state and county guidelines, visitors are no longer required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination before entering the building.
