On land, we set up a camp site, where daily and emergency food and supplies are located. The camp serves as our communications link to the ship and meeting site for planned events and emergencies.

Scientists and students then start collecting. Collecting strategies are specific to the type of organisms being collected. Specialists design their collecting strategies to maximize the diversity of forms sampled.
