CATTAIL AND RAFFIA DOLLS Skokomish

Basketry dolls—probably made for children's enjoyment since ancient times—were supplanted when commercial dolls became available. In the 1960s, weaver Emily Miller (Skokomish) began to make basketry dolls for sale to outsiders. (Find out more about Emily Miller and her granddaughter Linda Teo in the "Artists" area.)
