Coat racks and a staffed bag check are available on the main floor.

Photography + Filming
For personal, noncommercial use: photography and video are allowed in our main exhibits. Please check for signs in our special exhibits, where photography and video may be restricted. Excessive use of flash is not allowed. Use of tripods and monopods requires advance permission. To request permission, please contact Burke Museum public relations at burkepr@uw.edu.

For commercial use and the media. Prior written permission from the Burke Museum is required for:

  • All filming or photography for commercial or media use
  • Reproduction or sale of photographs
  • Publication of images

For more information, contact Burke Museum public relations at burkepr@uw.edu. The Burke reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to withhold or withdraw permission to photograph on its premises or to reproduce images of objects in its collection.

Quieter Times
If you prefer a quieter visit, we recommend visiting during the mid- to late-afternoon and checking the calendar to be sure there isn’t an event going on when you plan to visit.

Sketching + Drawing
Both regular and colored pencils are welcome in the museum galleries. Please leave your pens and markers at home or check them at the admissions desk on the main floor.

ACCESSIBILITY

At the Museum
All museum facilities are accessible, and a wheelchair is available for checkout at the museum’s admission desk. An elevator operates between the two floors of museum galleries, and there are places to sit and rest throughout the galleries. Accessible restrooms are located on both the main and ground floors of the museum.

Parking
Several disability parking spaces are available in the University of Washington parking lot near the museum. For more information about accessibility on the University of Washington campus, see the UW Access Guide for persons with disabilities page.
