Welcome to the UWFC database search!

The UWFC database includes the taxonomic information and locality data for the cataloged lots of preserved fishes held in our collection. The database is divided into two parts: the main collection (juvenile and adult specimens) and the early life history (ELH) collection (eggs, larvae, and some juveniles). See "Description of the Collection" for general information on taxonomic composition and geographic emphasis of our holdings. You now also have the option of searching our tissue collection by clicking on the “records with tissue samples” button at the top of the search form.

The new search tool now accesses the collections relational database directly, making the most up to date information available. A Search returns a list of records, with links to pages containing the complete information for each individual record. Once you have returned the summary list you then have the option to download an Excel file or a delimited text file of all the returned information (each record with all of its columns) for importing into spreadsheet software. A “Search Help” link is provided at the bottom of the search form for more detailed assistance.

We are now connected to the Species Analyst project (see description below) and a member of FishNet. As a result of the nimda worm, many of the features of the Species Analyst website are offline until system repairs and updates are complete. A simplified online version is available to search here. Access to the network is also available through add-ins for Excel and ArcView available to download here.
