About Bruce

Bruce Crowley is the Preparator for the Paleontology Division of the Burke Museum, and has been in this position since 1996. Bruce, a native to Seattle, has an MS in Geology from the University of Washington, and a varied background that includes museum exhibit and curatorial fields, sculpture, drawing and painting, and working as a printer. He has traveled extensively, and from his travels has a growing collection of coffee mugs from museums around the world.

Bruce began his job as a preparator at the Burke Museum, working on a large fossil whale from the Olympic Peninsula that is now on exhibit in the museum's galleries. Much of his time is spent working on fossil whales and dolphins, but he also prepares dinosaurs, fossil fishes, mammals and shells.
