For identification requests
In most cases, good photographs will be enough for us to identify your find at least to the genus level. Clear photos of the head and body showing fin placement are ideal. If you have the fish and would like to bring it to us to identify it, please make sure it is frozen or preserved (see the Methods of Preserving Fishes page).
Please be advised that we are not experts in keeping fish alive in aquaria, so questions about diseases of pet fishes should be directed toward Internet aquarium resources.
