Ancient Floras of the Pacific Northwest
Ancient climates in the Pacific NW were much different than today. Fossil floras between 50-11 million years old from several Northwest sites document significant climatic and vegetation changes; from subtropical forests, to deciduous temperate forests, to the coniferous forests and grassy plains we inhabit today. Join us for a tour of these ancient ecosystems by looking at fossils from key localities that preserve leaf fossils, nuts, seeds and wood, as well as microscopic plant remains.
Pre-registration is required and this tour is for visitors ages 8 and up. Space limits access to 12 people for the tour, so pre-register today to reserve your spot!
Collection Tours are offered one Saturday per month at 11 am and 1 pm, with a different collection to see every month. See our website for updates on upcoming tours!
