Special ¡Carnaval! Holiday Activities

Have some fun with family and out-of-town guests at the Burke Museum!

November 26 & 27, December 29 & 30, 2011

Seattle – Looking for something fun to do over your holiday vacations? Bring your family and friends to the Burke Museum and celebrate Thanksgiving and New Years in the Carnival spirit! Enjoy the ¡Carnaval! exhibit, samba dance to live music, and make your own special Carnival hat.

Burke Museum Event: Carnival Hats and Samba at the Burke!

November 26 & 27, 10 am – 2 pm 

Looking for something fun to do with the family after the feast and the football? Work off some of those calories with Eduardo Mendonça and Dora Oliveira of Show Brazil! and learn to samba! All ages are invited to learn the steps and dance to the rhythms of Brazilian Carnival. As an extra bonus, print artist Carl Smool will lead you through the process of making your very own screen-printed Carnival hat. Hat-making from 10 am – 2 pm, family friendly samba from 10 – 10:45 am and 1 – 1:45 pm. Samba and hat-making are free with museum admission.

Burke Museum Event: New Year’s Hats and Samba at the Burke!

December 29 & 30, 10 am – 2 pm 

Looking for something fun to do with the family over the holiday week? Bring those out-of-towner’s to the Burke and learn to samba! The Burke Museum is located on the University of Washington campus, at the corner of NE 45th St. and 17th Ave. NE. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm daily, and until 8 pm on first Thursdays. Admission: $10 general, $8 senior, $7.50 student/ youth. Admission is free to children four and under, Burke members, UW students, faculty, and staff. Admission is free to the public on the first Thursday of each month. Prorated parking fees are $15 and partially refundable upon exit if paid in cash. Call 206-543-5590 or visit www.burkemuseum.org.
