Celebrate the Fungus Among Us The Burke Museum presents the first ever Mushroom Maynia!

Sun., May 4, 2008
10 am - 4 pm

Seattle – Attention fungi fanatics: the Puget Sound Mycological Society (PSMS) will host the first ever Mushroom Maynia! at the Burke Museum on Sunday, May 4 from 10 am to 4 pm. Mushroom Maynia! will focus on how mushrooms fit into our local ecosystem through fungi facts and fun for the family.

The full-day event will include activities for all ages: Discover how to cultivate your own mushrooms and cook them into a tasty soup, plus learn how mushrooms can be turned into dyes and crayons!

Mycology, the study of fungi, is intimately connected to the studies of forestry, botany, ecology, medicine, and the culinary arts. It is the goal of Puget Sound Mycological Society to keep these connections alive by supporting the natural science of mushrooms. PSMS has a long history of producing successful events; their fall Wild Mushroom Show just celebrated its 44th year!

Mushroom Maynia! is made possible by the Daniel E. Stuntz Memorial Foundation whose mission is to raise awareness of the wonderful world of fungi.
