Seattle This fall the Burke Museum was awarded a grant for $11,000 from 4Culture,
the cultural development authority of King County. The grant supports the
Burkes equipment purchase of a drivable scissor lift that will increase the efficiency
and flexibility of exhibit installations at the museum.
The scissor lift will provide critical improvements to the Burkes exhibit installation process. With this equipment, Burke staff will be able to quickly access the upper canopy of the museum galleries in order to install dramatic lighting and showpieces for the Burkes ever-changing schedule of natural history and cultural exhibits. This increase in accessibility is expected to reduce previous installation times by half.
4Culture is King Countys cultural services agency, working to stimulate art and cultural activities within communities. Through its grant program Cultural Resources, 4Culture supports museums in making capital purchases such as equipment. The Burkes modest request was selected by 4Culture for its long-term impact on the museums exhibit program which hosts nearly 100,000 visitors each year.
