Fold the Flock

Sat., Aug. 30, 2014 – Mon., Sept. 1, 2014 | 10 am –  5 pm

September 1, 2014 marks the 100-year anniversary of the extinction of the Passenger pigeon, once the most populous bird in North America. Martha, the last survivor of the species passed away in the Cincinnati Zoo on September 1, 1914. Join us to commemorate the anniversary, participate in "Fold the Flock," and see the Burke's Passenger pigeon specimen, during Labor Day Weekend, Saturday, August 30 – Monday, September 1.

Free First Thursdays

On the first Thursday of every month, admission to the Burke Museum is FREE and the museum will remain open until 8 pm. Hands-on activities are offered each month.

College Inn Pub

Burke Trivia Night at the College Inn Pub

Thurs., Sept. 4, 2014 – Fri., Dec. 5, 2014 | 8 –  10 pm

The Burke Museum presents a monthly pub quiz for science buffs, culture gurus, and museum lovers. Bring your friends to the College Inn Pub and test your knowledge of the natural world. Compete with other teams for drink vouchers and other prizes. Teams are limited to 6 players. Cost: $5 per team.

Burke Trivia Night happens every first Thursday at 8 pm at the College Inn Pub.

Hosted by the Burke Museum at the College Inn Pub, 4006 University Way NE. Support for Trivia Night was provided by the University of Washington Graduate School. This is a 21+ event.

Mad Campus: Temporary art installation on Burke Museum grounds

Sat., Sept. 13, 2014 – Sat., Oct. 25, 2014

This fall, the University of Washington campus will become Seattle’s most expansive art gallery. From September 13 through October 25, MadArt, in association with ArtsUW, will present “Mad Campus,” an outdoor public art exhibition that features 12 large-scale, site-specific works and spans approximately 2.5 miles. Look for an installation outside the Burke Museum.

Buzz on by the Burke as thousands of specimens fly, inch, or crawl to the museum for this favorite annual family event. Examine bugs of all kinds from the Burke’s collections, learn about beneficial bugs, enjoy buggy music, and more!

Say farewell to LuLu’s tusk before it goes behind the scenes—we’re sending her off in style with a celebration of mammoth proportions! See a full mammoth skeleton and the oldest mammoth tooth in Seattle, and sign LuLu’s cast before her tusk goes behind the scenes for conservation.
