PCC Talks: “What is Organic Food?” with Nick Rose

Each PCC Talk event includes two 30-minute talks at 11:30 am and 12:30 pm. Thanks to support from our generous sponsor, PCC Natural Markets, the Burke Museum will host talks about hot topics in food.

“What is Organic Food?” with Nick Rose

“Organic, natural, free-range, sustainably grown…” some of the claims we see on food packages mean more than others. Many consumers don’t realize that the word “organic” on a food guarantees much more than the absence of pesticides. In this presentation, Nick explains the basics of organic produce, meat, dairy, and packaged foods. 

Nick Rose, M.S., leads weekly Walk, Talk and Taste classes for PCC Natural Markets, where he reveals the seasonal, sustainable and delicious food choices found at PCC. Before coming to PCC, Nick taught nutrition courses at Bastyr University and his alma mater, Virginia Tech, He enjoys helping others make conscious food choices for improved personal and planetary health.
