Imagine That Opening Day

Celebrate the opening of Imagine That: Surprising Stories and Amazing Objects from the Burke Museum. See the exhibit, and use objects in the Burke’s collections to open the doors to your imagination. Solve mysteries, write stories with 826 Seattle, and make your own nature journal, all while being serenaded by music of the Native Northwest, and South America. Activities for all ages and fancies. Imagine that!

  • Sketch objects from the Burke's collection and use them as inspiration for your artistic side.
  • Sort some sandstone and grab some granite in a hands-on rocks and minerals activity.
  • Make your own unique Natural History Field Book to use for note taking, sketches and reports.               
  • Writing activities with 826 Seattle, including:
  • Write a six-word story inspired by the Imagine That exhibit.
  • Use Burke collections as inspiration for a communal and individual stories.

Music Performances:

  • 10:30 – 11:30 AM: Native American Flute Music with Paul “Che oke ten” Wagner
  • 12:30 – 1:30 PM: Guitar sounds of South America with Eric Reid
