The First Nations Early Learners tour is a great introduction to the native people of the Northwest Coast. Geared for young learners, this tour uses stories, gallery exploration and our teaching collection to introduce Northwest Coast art and traditions to students. In the Burke’s Pacific Voices exhibit, students will hear a story, and then search the exhibit for objects found in the story. They will be able to touch real baskets, masks, and button blankets. Students will then make a Northwest Coast themed mask to take home with them.

Guided Tours are a great way for young students to see the exhibits. Our docents make the exhibits come alive for young, curious minds. Students get a closer look at museum artifacts or scientific specimens, and can handle real fossils and rocks, or beautiful examples of art and tools from our hands-on teaching collections.

Self-Guided groups are welcome on a space-available basis everyday. Use the exhibits as a backdrop for teaching something new, or simply bring your students in to draw some of their favorite objects. We'll send you a free pass to preview the exhibits so you can create your own special tour format.
*Special arrangements can be made for larger groups, and for groups that request longer visits.
