A behind-the-scenes look at the collections

February 22, 2016
Burke Museum
Collections tell the story of life on earth. We care for more than 16 million objects—from the tiniest sea creatures to the mammals that roamed the grasslands of North America millions of years ago.

If you take a peek behind the scenes at the Burke, you’ll find curious researchers, students, artists and community members drawing on the collections to explore scientific and cultural questions, inspire creativity, and to engage minds of all ages.

One night each year, Burke members join us for Behind-the-Scenes Night to explore highlights from the collections, peer inside drawers and under microscopes, and experience the Burke like never before. Check out a few of our favorite photos from this year’s Behind-the-Scenes Night on February 10, 2016 or view all of the photos in our Facebook album
